I run KVM, which Ubuntu has started supporting out of box by default.

But to run Windows the processor should support Virtualization. 
(Intel-VT or AMD-V)

You can do it by giving this command.

/$ egrep -e 'vmx|svm' /proc/cpuinfo/

If this returns something, then you can make use xen or kvm for running 
windows.
