Well, depends on your needs. Have a look at the following sites:

1. Damn Small Linux - damnsmalllinux.org/

2. Slax - www.slax.org

If you wish to work on just simple text files on different machines in
a Linux environment, go for DSL. Otherwise, get Slax on a usb drive,
check out all the modules available on the site. If I remember
correctly, there is no lzm module for an office app. You can use the
deb2lzm or tgz2lzm or rpm2lzm scripts in the iso to make the modules
for the office app, and set it up as a persistent module in your USB
install.

The scripts, and all the install documentation on Slax site (and also
the DSL site) is pretty good. I'd planned to experiment with making a
few lzm modules from my ubuntu install, but it's a project on the back
burner right now. No idea how the dependencies are calculated here.
I guess this is uncharted territory. Please post on the correct
forums/lists to find out further details. One major problem with this
approach however is that you need a working Linux install other than
the Slax one to make the modules.

If you need further help on Slax or DSL, please feel free to mail me.
I'll be glad to give whatever help I can give. Have played around a
bit with them :). And yeah, these are only the distro's that I know.
There might be more out there.
