[ubuntu-in] Ubuntu on external device

Hi Friends,
I hav installed Ubuntu 8.10 in my Dell Inspiron 1525.
But the maximum sound that I get as output is very low as compared to
vista even in extrenal speakers. Plz help me out in increasing the
sound level.
