"like in other distros" ? you can do it in ubuntu too without the need
to install the whole OS twice...

i installed ubuntu (9.04 alpha tho) and installed the package
"kubuntu-desktop" which got me KDE alongside GNOME.

i selected KDM as default login greeter, in there you can pick the
session you want to log into, GNOME or KDE...

one minor annoyance is that both DEs' software programs show up in the
menus, so i have multiple browsers, email
torrent, multimedia apps kind of littering the place...

im sure it will work with stable 8.10 too... unless you specifically
want to install 2 OS instances for each DE...
