(Sorry for the delay in posting this - got busy with other things :) )
Saw a few mails asking for updates today, so here is the good news :
Received the following reply from ubuntu on 24th:

So, we are good to go.
It is now up to the creative folks here to design the t shirts etc.
Myntra should be able to give good deals, and they *might* be able to
have a system wherein we just give them a list of names/addresses to
dispatch the t shirts too (in case we don't want to get into managing
distribution).
If there is anyone already in contact, then great. Once we firm up the
requirements (variations in design, size, modalities of pre-booking
etc), we can talk to them.
