Well pardon me, but AFAIK jaunty isn't an LTS release.. Ubuntu 10.04 is, but it isn't out yet.. And probably won't be until april 2010.

8.04 is a long term stable release, it is good if you're facing issues
with certain types of hardware eg. Intel video cards. Jaunty has a lot
of new features and new versions of software compared to 8.04 and is
the new long term release.

If you can live with slightly older versions of software in lieu of
stability with your hardware setup then I would recommend 8.04.
Otherwise Jaunty is fine.
