You should have luck with most popular Wacom tablets. I had briefly
used a Wacom tablet under Jaunty without any tinkering required,
although I'm not sure how great it performs regarding pen pressure
etc. If you can, take along a laptop to the store (with Ubuntu)  or a
live cd and test it out in gimp before you purchase it.
