[ubuntu-in] Problem with xDSL connection of BSNL

Hi

A few days back a lightening strike took out our BSNL exchange. The
broadband service was the last to be restored but the connection we
have seems to not work.

Its a username password authenticated connection. Under 8.10 the
network manager such a DSL connection - which i have made. But am
unable to connect.

I can access the router only by enabling another DHCP network
connection - which picks up the DHCP served by the DSL router. The
web interface shows everything as up or pass - but while trying to
connect through the xDSL i cannot connect to either the router or the
internet.

What can i do to know whats wrong and how to rectify it.
