Ubuntu comes with ufw already. But, it's still newer compared to other
tools. And i am not sure if it makes any use of iptables, but I
believe not.

yes, it is possible to do this with a firewall supposedly but would be
an awkward solution. It's better to run a proxy server for this need.
squid would be one of the choices.
