I don't know how Lawrence Lessig is as a person. I have never
communicated with him via any mean. But as founder of CC, I have
respect for him.
It is the CC license (specifically CC-BY-SA), that allows distribution
include the artwork created by community.

As of now there is almost no CopyCan't media in existence. Even the
AACS protection used by Blue-Ray/HD-DVD has been circumvented.
