I use kate on linux. Btw Komodo IDE has recently been opensourced so
you can use that too. It is one of the best IDE I had used. Apart from
these some other good IDE are
1) Eric
2) Eclipse with pydev plugin (requires java)
3) Anjuta (used to be my personal favorite for long, untill I decided
to start using something lighter.
4) Vi
5) Emacs
