[ubuntu-in] suspend problems

Hello All

I have a Toshiba A135-S2396 laptop. It is a Celeron 520 M processor, ATI
Radeon Xpress 200 M graphics card, 1.4 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD.

1. I have installed Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 on it, with the latest ATI proprietary
drivers. Before and after installing the latest ATI drivers, suspend and
hibernate were working fine. But then I installed a few other softwares
(like Gcompris, openoffice language packs and so on), suspend still works,
but it does not come back to life properly. It switches on, password prompt
appears, but the keyboard does not work. I had to hard reboot.

Any ideas on how to rectify this?

2. Booting this laptop with Ubuntu is taking a very long time. Apparently
fsck and MTA are making the machine wait. Can anyone suggest any workarounds
for this?

3. From yesterday, I can not access any google site using either wireless or
wired network. Accessing other sites is no problem at all. At the same time,
another computer using the same router and internet access point can access
all google sites. If I boot this laptop in the windows partition, then
google sites can be accessed also.

I added another DNS address to the resolv.conf, but that did not help.

Thanks in advance.

Michael
