A direct upgrade from Ubuntu 6.06 (LTS) to Ubuntu 7.10 is usually not
recommended. Kindly read the following article for details
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UpgradeNotes
Also, 7.10 requires around, 384 MB of RAM as its minimum requirements.
8.04 will also be a LTS (Long Term Support) and there's a /possibility/
that might allow 6.06 users to upgrade directly to this version of LTS.
If you plan to install 7.10, you can backup your existing data, and do a
fresh install.
