I also guess that its not being recognized. But you mistyped the
command a bit, it should be

ls /dev/scd*
You forgot the trailing * , though I again don't expect much from this
command though.

I suppose CD/DVD drives should be detected by BIOS itself. Why should
it be left to OS to detect it?
