[ubuntu-in] Dvd Writer not showing!

it shows following

*ubuntu at ubuntu2009:~$ ls /dev/scd
ls: cannot access /dev/scd: No such file or directory
ubuntu at ubuntu2009:~$ ls /dev/cdrom
ls: cannot access /dev/cdrom: No such file or directory
ubuntu at ubuntu2009:~$

*what to do now?, it is not recognizing dvd writer therefore no directory
in dev*
