If dmesg says that it is ttyUSB0, why would the /dev/ttyUSB0 not be
there? In recent distros with udev running, only user-space creates
the device files. Just use /dev/ttyUSB0 with your dialing program.

In old distros with devfs, one had to manually create device files.
