Akshay,

Please don't try to solve wrong problem. From the directory
permissions you specified, it is clear that you can't list files in
.gnupg directory since it doesn't have 'x' bit set for your user.
Running following command (without quotes) should help.
'chmod +x ~/.gnupg'
or
'chmod 755 ~/.gnupg'

hi Onkar,
i did try changing the permissions,
when i give gpg --export, i got a message telling, unsafe permissions to the directory will not export the keys,
so i had to revoke to the previous permissions,
it was only then i tried this sudo gpg ~ method, it worked also,

regards
Akshay,
