[ubuntu-in] Is Ubuntu Dapper (6.06 LTS) Buggy

Hi

Am running Ubuntu Dapper 6.06 LTS on a Lenovo laptop. It has been
updated with all the package and kernel updates till about two months
back -

Ever since I have been using this Dapper version my machine hangs about
once to twice a day Sometimes i am able to access an alternate login
(ctrl+alt+f1 etc) and sometimes i need to force a reboot using the power
button - the machine just freezes nothing moves.This is usually when am
working on openoffice. (ver 2.0.2 for Ubuntu)

It is quite irritating so my question are
1. is Ubuntu buggy or open office (or both)
2. Has any one else faced these kind of problems

and
3. Any diagnostics I can do
