I usually run the dev version. Once it's stable and released, I wipe the
current one, and install afresh from CD.
Also a separate /home.  But I find that to be not quick & smooth . Some
~/.<app>/config files do change between versions. So I :
1. Install afresh onto a single partition. -> Personalize -> Move the /home
manually to my original home
