[ubuntu-in] Editing grub "menu.lst"

I am not including your mail as I don't know answers to all the
things. I will just give some tips.

1. There is a package called grub-splashimages in repositories.
Install it. Then in /boot/grub create a symbolic link to one of the
images.
sudo ln -s splashimages/fiesta.xpm.gz splash.xpm.gz
Then update grub.
sudo update-grub
See if this works.

2. I am not sure what you mean by 3 coulous image. What I usually do
is open image in gimp and select menu Image -> Mode -> Indexed, put 16
as number of colours and then save modified image as xpm file.
