I doubt it, because I've been using this computer for almost ten years,
and never had any such problem before even when doing much more
demanding tasks than word processing.

And it is very unlikely to be cpu overheating, because it can happen at
the very beginning of a session i.e. in the first minute. Which would be
before anything would have overheated. 

And even after it happens, I can go on doing other tasks just fine. It
seems to be only the SCIM/OO that crashes.
