[ubuntu-in] What browsers will work at 14.4 kbps and Q2 tools to monitor internet connections

Hi

are there any browerser / mail clients (or mail client modes) that will
work at 14.4 kbps net connections.

Reason i have a winmodem that is using the free version of an hfsmodem
driver that is restricted to 14.4 kbps. So till i can get the full
version wanted to freek ;) out on the 14.4 kbps connection

Also are there any tools that can help me monitor an internet connection
(basically speed and data transferred). Would *nload* be good for this
