[ubuntu-in] Hoe to run mp3 files and c programs

Friends,
   
                I have installed ubuntu linux 6.06 in my system. I am very proud to use it. I cannot compile the C files using ubuntu and also I am not able to play .mp3, .mpeg,.wma files in linux.
                   
               How can i run mp3 files in linux and also how to get gcc
