<p dir="ltr">I'm a bit of a noob, so I'd like to know what the aims of the monthly IRC meeting is. I get the mailing list but I'm struggling to understand the meeting. Also, I've never used the IRC before but I imagine its like a text-based web conference?</p>

<p dir="ltr">Do the other LoCo's around the world use the IRC? If so, how often and is there scope to use something different in future like a G+ hangout?</p>
