Are we going to have an IRC meeting in November?

Hi Everyone,
I am just wondering whether or not we are going to hold a team monthly
meeting in November? The attendance and participation at recent
meetings has been poor. Some have rightly pointed out that many of the
topics being discussed at recent meetings have been without
substance. It has also been suggested that, for us, the monthly meeting
might not be necessary.
My own views on this differ. I believe that, as an approved LoCo, we do
need to consistency hold monthly meetings to help maintain activity, to
keep things ticking over, to maintain focus and to keep team related
items to the front of our minds. In my view team events, pertinent
ubuntu LoCo related news, CD distribution, website revamp, team
decisions and much more should all be dealt with at monthly meetings.
Without the meeting I feel our LoCo would stagnate. I do feel we need
much greater participation in the meeting from team members. The more
ideas and views that get expressed from within the group the stronger
and more vibrant our LoCo will become. I do agree that the meetings have
become a bit stale recently but I believe this is becuase participation
has dropped off and nothing else. We need fresh input and ideas!!
Anyway, they are just my own views on the topic. What really
matters is what the concensus view is. So what do folks think? If we
stick with the current system we would be holding a meeting on
Wednesday the 16th of November at 8 or 9pm.
Are we going to go ahead with that?
Do we want to change the date and/or time?
Do we want to abandon our monthly meetings or reduce the frequency to
every two months, quarterly or sporadically called?
Is there another option open to us?
What are peoples opinions on this?
We do need to decide what we are going to do about team IRC meetings.
Best Regards,
Mike
