Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all having a great Bank Holiday weekend. 3DCamp Barcamp is taking place next Saturday, 11th of June, in the CSIS Building at the University of Limerick. 3Dcamp is a themed Barcamp which looks at "the Internet Beyond Web 2.0". Some examples of the diverse areas that may be explored in talks include -
3D visualizations (Blender, Sketchup),
Gestural Interfaces (Kinect)
Robotics
Gaming
Mapping mashups, GPS,
Location based Services (LBSs),
and many more.
Full details of the event, including registration details, can be found from the homepage at:
http://3dcamp.barcamp.ie/
Our very own Jeffrey Roe will be giving a talk entitled "Tracking objects in 3D space, an embedded approach" at the 3DCamp. (I hope the talk goes well for you Jeffrey!)
The organisers of this barcamp event have very kindly agreed to let us hold a geeknic during the lunch break. This will be our first Geeknic of the year and, weather permitting, will take place on the lawns behind the CSIS building in UL. As you all probably know a geeknic is an informal picnic for geeks. We hope that some members of The Ubuntu Ireland Team will be interested in attending both the 3DCamp (for knowledge) and the Geeknic (for fun!). We are excited to be having this geeknic in Limerick as we do enjoy it it when events can be organised to take place in different areas around the country. These two concurrently run events provide an excellent opportunity for Munster and Connaught based ubunteros to get together without the burden of having to travel to Dublin.
Further details of the geeknic can be found at:
http://loco.ubuntu.com/events/team/1004/detail/
Please register for the geeknic, and of course 3DCamp, if you plan on attending.
I hope to see some familiar, and some not so familiar faces, in UL next Saturday.
Best Regards,
Mike
