Proposed June Geeknic

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying the Bank Holiday Weekend.  As agreed during our February Team IRC meeting we plan on organising geeknics for June and August this year (the relevant meeting minutes and logs are available at:

It was also agreed that these geeknics should ideally be held on weekends other than bank holiday weekends and, as far as possible, on weekends that do not clash with other FOSS related events.  Removing the bank holiday weekend at the start of June we are left with 3 possible June weekends ( 11th- 12th, 18th-19th and 25th-26th).

Does anyone know of any related events which clash with these suggested dates?  TOG run their monthly Synchronous Hackathon meetup over the June 18th-19th weekend.  If ran over that weekend would a geeknic cause difficulties for the TOG event or would the geeknic itself suffer?  I am not aware of any other FOSS events planned for the 3 weekends under consideration.

I hope to set up a poll to help us choose the preferred weekend.  Within reason, if a weekend is ruled out by feedback received then it will not be included in the poll.  I’d hope we can choose the location for the June geeknic during the May 18th IRC meeting.  Considering this, I’d also hope that the date selection poll would be completed before May 18th.
