Ubuntu-IE Netcasts

Again a bit of an aside - but I I think I still have the dvd of the
13-part Go-Open TV documentary series that was made in South Africa in
2006. Funny how it looks aged already ... It was a pretty expensive
operation to produce (jointly funded by Shuttleworth Foundation,
Canonical, HP, the SA CSIR) and a pretty audacious idea at the time.
I think there were ideas in it which worked and some which fell a bit
flat. The focus on local companies success stories with linux was
really good. And geek-of-the-week was a good way of highlighting
local developer talent. The comedian they chose to host the show
irritated me. And too many interviews with high priests and gurus.
If there are any media savvy folk who want to take a look and pick
apart for good and bad ideas let me know. It was a pretty early
attempt to take linux to a popular audience using a popular medium
(TV). Probably historically interesting. I think much of the series
is also on you-tube.
Cheers
Bob
