I am a sixth form tutor at an A level college and have only recently got into Linux. My aim is to approach management here in college to introduce teaching java on the linux platform to students in preparation for University. Although I studied OOP in java during my masters that was 10 years ago and we did not use Linux so it is almost like starting from new again. Any offers of assistance in working with java on Linux............. if I run into problems............. would very much be appreciated.

I do a bit of java on ubuntu. Mostly using sun java 6 and netbeans
but also (variously) openjdk, emacs and eclipse. Feel free to shout.
I'm sure there are others more competent than I on this list as well.
I'm a fairly reluctant java programmer :-)

Bob
