Hi my name is Derek Beatty (Irish national ...........Belfast.............Irish passport) and actually live and work in Manchester. I am a sixth form tutor at an A level college and have only recently got into Linux. My aim is to approach management here in college to introduce teaching java on the linux platform to students in preparation for University. Although I studied OOP in java during my masters that was 10 years ago and we did not use Linux so it is almost like starting from new again. Any offers of assistance in working with java on Linux from amnybody............. if I run into problems............. would very much be appreciated.
Yours,
dbd

Hello!

I'm Julie, I attend the meetups regularly. I'm a software
developer/tinkerer, very interested in the crossing of education and
technology and am usually poking at Sugar, the learning environment
for children, or Moodle.

I use multiple distros on any given day, but I've been a big fan of
Ubuntu since I first tried it and like to encourage people to give it
a try.

Hope to see you all at the next Ubuntu Hour,

Julie

I'm the end user, the guy the rest of you spend your time writing
software for. Also occasionally an advocate, have a sister and a nephew
both using ubuntu as an alternative to replacing old boxes which finally
corrupted their windows system files one time too many.

Last time I wrote a program, BBC BASIC was all the rage, so I'm not sure
how I can give back to the community, unless you ever need a press
release. In the meantime, I lurk just to keep in touch with what's going
on.

Regards
