Hi Simon,

Good to hear from you. There are many people active in Ubuntu in
Ireland. We do lots of stuff from social pub meets to bug jamming
things. We have a website http://www.ubuntu-ie.org, we have a mailing
list (which is CC'ed to this mail), join it to be alert to events. We
have an IRC channel where many hang out and chat (chat live in your
browser here http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#ubuntu-ie ), and a
twitter account http://twitter.com/ubuntuie

Upcoming events is a 'geeknic' (geek picnic) next Sunday, in Dun
Laoghaire, Dublin (more info http://ubuntu-ie.org/node/102), it's just a
chance to hang out, meet new and old friends. Just look for the people
who look like linux geeks, come up and ask if we're ubuntu :)

There's a 'global jam' coming up in the ubuntu world in August IIRC.
It's over a weekend we try to contribute back to ubuntu with bug
reports, code, etc. We'll be talking about it at our next monthly IRC
meeting on 21st July (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IrishTeam/IRCMeetings).

Hope that gives you enough of an intro. Feel free to ask anyway, in the
ubuntu world we don't believe in stupid questions, or introduce yourself.
