Hi Paul,

I've CCed the main Ubuntu Ireland list. If you're in Dublin, Cork or
Limerick there are monthly Ubuntu meet ups (called 'Ubuntu Hours') (see
here for more details: http://loco.ubuntu.com/teams/ubuntu-ie/events)

As for your youtube problem, I suspect you might be using the default
open source flash player. There is another (closed source) flash player
from Adobe. Since it's closed source, it can't be included by default.

You can find out if you are using the open source one or the adobe one
with the Ubuntu Software Centre. Search for "flash". If you see a result
for "Adobe flash plugin" (with a green checkbox) amoung the results,
then you have the adobe one installed. If not, then you must be using
the open source ones that aren't as good (usually).

More info: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/Flash

To install it go to this link in your browser:
apt:flashplugin-installer?section=universe?section=multiverse

Another possibility: Windows gets more attention from Adobe than Ubuntu
Linux, so it's common that the closed source flash player from Adobe to
preform poorly on Ubuntu Linux. In which case, Adobe are the the only
ones who can fix it, so you're stuck. Sorry!

Hope that helps

Rory
