I think distro watch may have a point in there being too any *buntus and
could be diluting the brand and available resources. Its a bit confusing for
new users , ubuntu,gobunto,kbuntu,edubuntu, thisminutebuntu etc. However
GPL allows you to do this and if people want to do it then they should be
able to do it. Its the forking arguement all over again! To fork or spoon :P
On the EULA thing , it may be time for Ubuntu to look for a new Browser. As
Mozilla Firefox is increasingly becoming MS Windows orientated. Mozilla have
every right to insist on a EULA in the same sense as you every right to
stand in the pouring rain in your pajamas, you can , but why would you!
Most importantly we have every right to use something else . The main issue
is that Firefox is part of the base install which means its the default ,
some people will just click through and sigh. I'd be more worried that it
would set a trend in future for other projects.I think Canonical might be
playing this down while they talk to Mozilla. The release of this is a bit
sus ahead of the release of Intrepid Ibrox. It may cause Mozilla a lot of
acceptance issues with large corporations/organisations as one of the
advantages was the lack of a resticitive EULA.
