Hello everyone. Here is a quick summary of the first Ubuntu Ireland IRC
Meeting 24.02.2008.
We had 4 active users. ebel, happy_tux, kidders, Mean-Machine. Thanks to
them users for their participation.

The first to get put on the table was:

[TOPIC] Community Goals
What should we concentrate on. As ubuntu Ireland community, we want to
set out goals on moving forward.
Promotion is a strong topic in any ubuntu community. Contacting the
media with articles and news relating to ubuntu would be beneficial to
our community goals.
ebel was in the meeting from www.camara.ie . Camara take in second hand
computers that have been discarded by Irish Organisations and
individuals, refurbish them and send them to schools and colleges in sub
sahara Africa.

[TOPIC] Team Organization
Well, with a lot of arm twisting and promises of free beer, we got some
team organisation going.

      * ebel in charge of ubuntu-ie <=> Camara
      * Mean-Machine in charge of IRC meetings and wiki maintenance
      * happy_tux in charge meeting summary in mailing list.

The forum is a great way to keep in touch with ubuntu ireland. Why not
visit http://ie.ubuntuforums.org/ and say hello.

So lots to be done in the future and was good to get the ball rolling
with the first Internet Relay Chat meeting.

We all agree that ubuntu rocks! as a computer operating system. For the
next meeting scheduled for Sunday 9th March 2008 at 9pm we would really
love to see you there...

You can see a schedule of all meetings on

Thanks
happy_tux
