[ubuntu-gt soporte] problema con MySql

Buena tarde me podrian ayudar tengo instalado MySql en ubuntu 10.04 quiero
concetarme a la coneccion que cree con usuario y nombre pero me tira el
siguiente error

Could not connect to host 'localhost'.
MySQL Error Nr. 2005

Unknown MySQL server host 'localhost' (1)

Click the 'Ping' button to see if there is a networking problem.
