If memory serves correctly when installing lightdm you must be sure
to install lightdm-gtk-greeter first. Otherwise you'll end up with
unity-greeter and a boat load of unwanted unity related packages.<br>

Or, better than depending on my shoddy memory, always use the -s
suffix to test what'll be installed, eg;<br>
<br>
apt-get install lightdm -s<br>

I think once while I was testing lxde/gnome/unity all at once
I managed to have the lxde login screen and later boot into
gnome. But I do not recommend it. Big mess. But maybe if done
properly?<br>
