It's interesting, over the last few months I have read many reports
of people trying to install Ubuntu and it's many derivatives on
System 76 laptops with bad results. Although largely I have see it
on the Kudu Professional. I would look for some commonality between
the two. Most people I've seen who have these problems with system
76 laptops end installing their favorite Ubuntu in a VM, which is
not exactly an optimal solution. I know of one individual who was
trying to elementary OS (12.04 derivative) to run properly on a Kudu
Professional. He actually went so far as to contact system 76, they
were nice enough to not only write back, they tried to help him
resolve the issues he was having which was kind of a surprise to me.
In the end it was a bust and he too ended up running his Gnome
flavor in a VM.
I suggest you contact System 76 personally. They may have a
solution. Although I won't promise they will go to the great extent
they did to help the other guy.
