I also started getting this recently, however this is minor as the
plymouth process is being terminated before showing you the login screen.

Possibly. Would you mind filing a bug reports here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome and providing us with some
screen shots and the above text as the bug description?

Yes. You can upgrade to the final release like a normal system update.
You can update with sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade from the
terminal or optionally when Software Updater pops up just click upgrade
or just run update-manager from the command line on or after release day.
