Apologies for the delay, first week back at work!

You can maybe try our main ppa which has some updates that never made it
into the final release of 14.04 here:
https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/ubuntu/gnome3
<https://launchpad.net/%7Egnome3-team/+archive/ubuntu/gnome3>

An easy way to add it is: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
Then: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Then: Logout or Restart (if a new kernel has been installed)

If the problem still persists, you can try the staging PPA which has
some more updates here:
https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/ubuntu/gnome3-staging

And repeat the above.
