Gnumeric and Abiword sluggish after upgrade

I'm also experiencing similar issues.

Not only are Abiword and Gnumeric sluggish, but I'm finding Totem choppy as
well as Epiphany and the GNOME Terminal. Alternatives such as Libre Office,
VLC and Firefox work perfectly.

I believe this to be a specific problem with the version of GNOME being
used; when using 3.14 through Debian I didn't experience these issues, I'm
fairly certain I read in one of the more recent GNOME release notes that
certain speed problems with apps had been addressed.
