No Menu In gucharmap

Hi, all.  I am a linux newbie, tech oldie migrating from windows xp to linux.

I have a fresh install of Ubuntu GNOME 14.04.  I am trying to follow a youtube tutorial on how to use gucharmap.  Unfortunately, when I open gucharmap, there is no menu??

Please help.
