Flashback (no effects) unusable in Ubuntu GNOME Saucy

I had not taken time during the Saucy dev cycle to test the flashback
session with metacity because it's of minimal importance to me, but I do
plan on doing a rewrite of this forum thread during the Trusty dev cycle:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1966370

So I started testing the flashback (no effects) session in both Edubuntu
and Ubuntu and it works fine in both, but then I tried it out in Ubuntu
GNOME Saucy and it's just a mess.

I'm not even sure how to describe it but the menus and/or windows do not
respond properly. I posted some screeenshots in this forum thread:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2183871

As I said this is of minor importance to me and I'm fine just saying,
"the flashback (no effects) session is known not to work properly in
Ubuntu GNOME", but I don't want to start any FUD.

BTW the standard gnome-shell and classic DE's work perfectly well
out-of-box so it appears to be limited only to the flashback (no
effects) session.

Thanks in advance,

Lance
