My problem is similar to yours Mario but in my own case I can't herbinate. Infact I even thought all Ubuntu are like that because ever since I installed Ubuntu, I have never herbenate successfully.

I'm using Gnome Ubuntu (fresh install) with staging PPA repository. The
suspend worked well until yesterday when I did an upgrade of the new
packages. Now I can't suspend anymore closing the lid but also if I request
suspend from the menu of gnome.

These are the upgraded packages:

Anyone else with the same problem?

My system already got systemd-shim v.3+real-0ubuntu2 and the suspend-by-lid
worked well until yesterday.

That's strange. I had those exact symtoms on 3 PCs, and upgrading
systemd-shim to v3+real-0ubuntu2 fixed it for the 3 of them.

I can't help you on this then, sorry.

It looks related to the last update of systemd-services package
(202-0ubuntu6~ubuntu13.04.1) and related. Have you already updated to this
version?

Ok, I was stupid! I've just checked that systemd-shim version with
'apt-cache showpkg systemd-shim' to verify the availability of the
mentioned version in my repositories. I just assumed that it was installed
(to the latest version). Filling a reply to Tim I discovered with 'dpkg -l
| grep systemd' that systemd-shim was non installed. Installing it and
rebooting the system solved the problem. My fault.
I think there is a problem on the dependencies that should automatically
install such package in a fresh install or after an upgrade on already
installed computers.

Thanks: you fixed my day. :)
