Problem with Ubuntu Gnome 12.10

It may be that your graphics chip doesn't want to support the Mutter window manager so if you could please post the output of this command:

lspci | grep VGA

That way we'll know what graphics chip/card you're using. But I've personally found Cinnamon's forked WM to be even more resource hungry so I may be barking up the wrong three ;^/
