I see that in my installation
picture-uri='file:///usr/share/themes/Adwaita/backgrounds/adwaita-timed.xml'is
set, that explains it all. Thanks.

On the other issue, I've found the problem. It was indeed Grub. I had to
modify /boot/grub/grub.cfg in order to fix it. I updated the Git
repository<https://github.com/aldomann/ubuntu-gnome-plymouth> with
it.

*I think that Plymouth is ready to package* (I don't know how to do that,
though, I hope you can help me with that, Tim).
