applet gnome network manager

Mon problème c'est qu'il n'y est pas.
Et lorsqu'en ligne de commande, je tape /usr/bin/nm-applet, ca me donne
ceci :

olivier at kessel-ring:~$ /usr/bin/nm-applet

** Message: applet now embedded in the notification area
** (nm-applet:2613): DEBUG: old state indicates that this was not a
disconnect 0

Sauf que rien, strictement rien n'apparait à l'écran.
