Le fait que la commande grub-install -v renvoi 1.98 confirme que tu as grub2.

Comme ton système est accessible, tu peux tenter un :
sudo update-grub

PS : la page http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/uuid_et_label est intéressante, même si comme le dit la note, elle n'est plus tout à fait à jour.

Que dois-je faire ? Installer grub2, utiliser Startupmanager, ou
utiliser le livecd ?
