Hey everyone!
The release of 22.04 is approaching fast. Beta testing week is set to
begin on 31 March, which leads to this email.
Some background information is in order. A couple years ago Yousuf
Philips began some community-inspired testing weeks, which included all
of the flavours. Those testing weeks had a positive impact on getting
more folks to be involved with beta testing the ISOs and reporting bugs.
During the previous release, Yousuf was unable coordinate due to time
constraints. Monica asked for some help with coordinating, Chis Guiver
and I volunteered.
During this testing cycle we were able to work with Daniel and the
amazing folks at the Ubuntu Hideout Discord (https://discord.gg/ubuntu).
They had created a #testing-cycle channel in Discord and had a very good
response with users coming forward and helping with testing. Daniel has
expressed a desire to have the Ubuntu Hideout Discord community make an
even greater impact during this release. I volunteered to try and help
coordinate this with the flavours.
What we would like to see is a list (with a priority) from each of the
flavours of items they would like testers to focus on. The plan is to
present this to the testers in the #testing-cycle channel. It would be
helpful to have someone from each of the flavour teams join the Ubuntu
Hideout Discord. There was a good level of involvement last cycle and
this is a great opportunity to get some focused testing from a wide
group of motivated testers.
I can be a POC for this if there are any questions and can also direct
any questions you might have to Daniel.
Cheers
