Muchas gracias por tu sugerencia, la aplicación es muy cómoda de configurar

Seguí tus indicaciones, reinicié. y me sale el siguiente error en un cuadro:

Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode.
The Following error was encountered. You may
need to update your configuration to solve this.
(EE) Problem parsing the config file
(EE) Error parsing the config file

luego de esto me sale un cuadro con lo siguiente:

What would you like to do?
- Run Ubuntu in low-graphics modes for just one session
- Reconfigure graphics
- Troubleshoot the error
- Exit to console login

Debo seleccionar Reconfigure graphics para que se inicie de manera normal,
los cambios hechos en conf.xorg se pierden...
