donde esta definido el PATH??

tengo ubu Dapper y deseo saber donde es q esta definido el $PATH en ubuntu
pues mi fichero /etc/profile contine lo siguiente

y supongo deba existir un fichero con una linea similar a
PATH=/sbin:/bin:/usr/localbin   o algo por el estilo
